Hearing Aids in Rowlett, Rockwall and Garland TX
Are you currently doing your research to find the right hearing aid? We understand that finding the right hearing aid can be tricky. These days, there are so many options out there that offer unique features and pros and cons that it can be difficult to make a decision. Our otolaryngologist, Dr. Brent Metts can provide you with the information you need to make an informed decision about the ideal hearing aid for you. Here are some of the most common types of hearing aid styles:
A small case containing all the hearing elements sits behind the ear and connects to a custom earmold through a plastic tube that helps to amplify sound. This is one of the most commonly used hearing aids because they can work with more moderate to severe forms of hearing loss.
With this style, the speaker sits inside the ear and is connected to the device through a wire. Slightly smaller in size than our BTE models, RIC hearing aids are a better option for those with mild to moderate forms of hearing loss.
This custom-molded hearing aid sits right in the ear canal and can be matched to your skin tone so it’s less visible when worn. While some versions of this ITE hearing aid may be placed deeper within the canal, most are worn on the outer portion of the canal.
Just a bit larger than CIC hearing aids, the ITC style sits in a portion of the outer ear and are molded to fit your ear. These are a fairly versatile type of hearing aid, being able to improve hearing in those with mild to slightly severe hearing loss.
This is one of the more “invisible” types of hearing aids. If you are looking for a discreet option, this might be the ideal style for you. CIC hearing aids sit more deeply in the canal and can be removed by simply tugging on a small string that’s attached to the device. This is an ideal option for those mild to moderate forms of hearing loss.
